Thank
you for considering Vitamin Cottage as a speaking opportunity. It has been our mission over the years to
create a public service for our customers that would be truly educational and
empowering to each individual in their search for the best of nutrition and
health. With this vision in mind we
have formatted the following guideline for potential speakers. We have outlined our basic interests in
topics, the facilities we have to offer and the information we will need from
you in order to begin the process.
We
are always most interested in topics that are specific, current, and of vital
interest to the average person’s health and well being. General topics that encompass too broad a
subject such as: herbs, homeopathy,
acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. do not
draw an audience in our experience, so the more detailed and specific your
topic is---the more likely it will be to work for all of us. It is essential to keep in mind that the
lectures are meant to be educational, not promoting a company, business, method
of treatment, or specific products. We
ask that you avoid extreme blanket statements about any supplement groups,
focusing more on the importance of finding a quality product. Please avoid negative comments about any
product line, company, or person---such comments have no part in our standards
for high quality, educational seminars.
As our goal is strictly educational, we do no charge for the event or
pay our speakers. You are welcome, however,
to place your business cards on our entry table.
Once
we have reviewed your materials, we will do our best to get back to you within
two weeks regarding our decision. When
the seminar has been approved and we have set a date, we will support you by
making 5,000 flyers to distribute to our Denver area stores, as well as press
releases to the local newspapers and radio/tv stations. Space permitting, some of our speakers are
given a write-up in our Health Hotline, a newspaper insert that reaches 600,00
people. If you are a published author
we will sell your book at the seminar and in our stores, and we will also audio
record the seminars held in our Denver location and send you a tape.
We
offer lectures in our Fort Collins store as well, on a much smaller scale, and
we are excited to announce that we now have event centers in both of our New
Mexico locations---Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
If you are interested in speaking at one of these locations the process is
exactly the same, as is the follow up advertising with flyers and press
releases.
The
Event Center in Denver is equipped with seating for 270, (although the average
attendance is around 150), sound equipment, slide projector and an overhead
projector. Our event centers in New
Mexico offer the same equipment and each seat 150 people. Fort Collins has no sound system and usually
has space for between 30 and 60 people.
The talk begins at 7 p.m.---we prefer that you speak for an hour,
followed by a Q & A session, which generally brings the evening to a close
around 9 p.m.
If
you are still interested in speaking at Vitamin Cottage and in accordance with
these guidelines, we ask that you please submit the following to the lecture
coordinator so that we can move forward with the process of review:
