Physical Therapy

The art and science of Physical Therapy (PT) provides a way for individuals to achieve restoration of optimal movement and function following an injury or onset of pain. Spinal pain, extremity pain and headaches are often the secondary result of mechanical problems in the body. These problems could involve joints, muscles, connective tissue and the nervous system. The patient may notice limited range of motion, loss of muscular strength, stiffness, muscle spasm and isolated or radiating pain into the arms or legs. The Physical Therapist works to identify the source of pain and dysfunction after a thorough history and evaluation of biomechanical function, joint/tissue mobility, strength and coordination is conducted.

Holistic Physical Therapists integrate both traditional and Complementary methods in their approach to assessment and treatment of disease and injury. Techniques that empower patients to take charge of their recovery are stressed, with consideration given to all aspects of health and well being, including the relationship between healing and the mind/body connection.

Traditional techniques may include:

Complementary techniques may include:

Holistic Physical Therapists integrate these treatment options into an individualized treatment plan tailored to achieve specific goals, with the patient pro-actively involved in the treatment process. The resulting treatment program supports each patient in achieving maximal recovery of function ands resolution of the causes of pain and dysfunction.

PT provides a truly integrative approach to treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions of the body. Holistic PTs offer expanded treatment options for their patients. Using an integrative approach, patients experience the benefits of PT treatment that honors the connection of mind, body and spirit in the process of healing and recovery.
